One thing to know about me: I’m Dutch, and I have Dutch relatives, and whenever I’m in Europe I try to check in and say hello. So accordingly my trip back from Barcelona routed through Amsterdam.

As usual KLM was a great host

My first stop whenever in Holland is *always* the Jan Boer bakery in Vlaardingen, my home town, and home to the world-famous Izerkoekjes. (Literally, “iron cookies”, named for the waffle iron on which they are baked, not their consistency 🙂 These ginger-flavored concoctions are three-star, that is, worth a special trip.

And then it was on to dinner with my Uncle and his family, and one last night at the Hilton hotel in Schiphol airport.

Next morning it was off at oh-dark-hundred, little plane on a little light to Frankfurt, and then big plane on the big flight home to LA.
And now I’m back, and the whole trip seems like an amazing dream. Time to settle in, get back to “normal”, and plan the next one!
